TLB: What is your background and what should The Leaky Boob readers know
about you?
Amanda: I’m Amanda McGhee and I’m the WAHM behind Lullaby Kisses. I married my husband, David, in June 2006 on the what I’m sure was the rainiest day of the year! It
poured all morning, but the sun came out just long enough for our outdoor wedding
and pictures! They say that rain on your wedding day is good luck…I’m not much
for believing in luck, but we have been truly blessed in these last five years. Our
first son, Jeremiah was born December 1st, 2008. He’s an awesome kid with a fun
personality. I’m so proud of him. Everyday he amazes me with his kindness and
compassion. Joel, our second son, arrived on September 12, 2010. He looks just
like his big brother and is the cutest little boobie monster, ever, I’m certain 🙂
We live in Maryland, about 45 minutes north east of Baltimore, in Harford County.
I’m finding its really hard to talk about myself, but I love to talk to people and
make new friends, so please feel free to come on over to our Facebook page and get

TLB: How and why did you come to start Lullaby Kisses?
Amanda: I started Lullaby Kisses when my first son was just a couple months old, in March of 2008, though at that time we weren’t called Lullaby Kisses – that name came later. We didn’t have a local store that offered the products I was interested in. So… I
opened one! We’ve grown from serving our local community to now also serving an
online community as well. It has been such a blessing in my life to meet and help
other parents through Lullaby Kisses. My goal has always been to share the products
I love with others, and I hope to continue to do that for a long time!
TLB: What influenced you the most to decide to breastfeed?
Amanda: I’d love to say I was really educated and knew all about breastfeeding and how great it was for a woman’s health and for the child’s health, but I wasn’t. I was
completely clueless. And, honestly, my husband and I were completely shocked when
we found out we were expecting Jeremiah. We were not financially prepared to start
a family (is anyone?) so at first, the primary reason I chose to breastfeed because,
well… it’s free. I really didn’t know much about anything, but it just seemed
like the natural thing to do. I mean, God didn’t just put them there for no reason,
ya know? 😉 After Jeremiah was born, I started attending a Breastfeeding Support
Group held twice a week at the local hospital & learned so much more about
breastfeeding. The LCs and other moms I met taught me so much and I became
passionate about it! I have dreams of returning to school once my children are
older to become a Lactation Consultant.
TLB: What’s your favorite breastfeeding memory?
Amanda: The namesake of my store is actually from my favorite breastfeeding memory. I was nursing Jeremiah and humming a lullaby to him as he was drifting off to sleep for the night. He was so peaceful and content at my breast. Asleep, and with milk
dribbling down his little chin he smiled a sleepy smile that I will never forget,
and cuddled up with me. I kissed his head and just sat there staring at him in
complete awe. It was a moment I will cherish for the rest of my life.

To be perfectly honest, I’d be hard pressed to pick. I lent my cuddly wrap to a girl from my baby massage class and if I don’t get it back (going on a month now 🙁 ) I would definitely love to get a Moby. I not only would chose the Miby out if want, but also need. I just had my third child (two months old), and I have a 17 month old and 5 year old. My hands are pretty full, and on those rare occasions that we all actually leave the house, I have quite a time tugging a carseat, carrying a toddler AND chasing a big kid :). Awww, please, please, please! I’d love a Moby wrap. I’ve been preparing for pregnancy for about a year, not drinking caffeine nor alcohol, drinking plenty of water, eating a healthy diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables and I’ve read so many books about attachment parenting, homebirth, elimination communication, peaceful parenting, co-sleeping-bedsharing and of course babywearing. I’m planning to have a unassisted homebirth, bedshare with my baby, breastfeed (of course) and babywear. This would be my first pregnancy and I can’t wait to meet my baby! I’d love to wear my baby thinking of you guys, so many wonderful ladies supporting each other through this magical moment in live, just like nature intended.

I didn’t realize that this diaper required a cover until after our first use when our son leaked all over his dad. Opps! Luckily we had a cover and there haven’t been any other issues.
I really like this diaper. It’s easy to use and easy to tell when it’s wet without having to risk getting anything on your fingers. The only thing that took a little getting used to (other than it needing a cover) is that it fastens opposite from all the other diapers. The front snaps on top of the wings rather than the wings snapping onto the front.
We are line drying since it’s the summertime (and the sun bleaches out the stains) and this diaper does dry a little stiffer than some of the others. It’s not a bad thing, just another difference between it and Fuzzibunz or BumGenius.
