Party Like a Leaky Part 4 – International Edition

The Leaky Boob is turning 5 years old and we’re celebrating ALL MONTH LONG! And this week the party is going international to include all the readers in the 173 countries where TheLeakyBoob.com is read.

To celebrate we’re collecting and sharing your stories along with collecting some of our favorite maternity, breastfeeding, and baby products to give as gifts to YOU Leakies. Each week our celebration includes a different birthday bash bundle of prizes from our favorite brands, presents for Leakies. AND we’re growing!

Some of us aren’t breastfeeding or bottle-feeding any more (and you thought it was going to last forever) but you’re still a part of our community and you’re still nourishing and loving your family so we’ve grown to expand two more communities where we can talk about our highs and lows of that journey in a safe, judgment-free environment. Over on BeyondMoi.com we talk a lot about, well, everything, specially about parenting and relationships. OurStableTable.com invites everyone to find a seat at the table embracing that sometimes there’s a little wobble in one of our legs, making room for allergies, and creatively nourishing our whole selves with recipes and a lot of honest conversation.

Last, but not least, we have launched our newsletter which brings together TLB, Beyond Moi, and OST, with exclusive special features not available anywhere else, giveaways, round ups, and more from the community. Our first newsletter and sign-ups available here

Our family is growing and we’re happy to share it with you!

Comments

  1. I have just started reading your newsletters and am looking forward to them! I would love to read about how to encourage other moms to continue breastfeeding and not giving up so easily without sounding rude and judgemental

  2. I look forward to the encouragement that I didn’t get the first time around and hope that it helps to keep my journey going longer.

  3. I just signed up so am unsure what was in the first 2 issues but would like to see a section where women write in on their breastfeeding journey so that we can show people that you can’t compare your breastfeeding journey with anyone else’s.

  4. I just subscribed, so I am not sure what was in the first 2 issues. I would like to see women who are trying to breastfeed celebrated, especially those who have donated to other babies, or have not been able to exclusively breastfeed for whatever reason, but continue to try.

  5. Anna Groeger says

I really enjoy the feeling of encouragement that comes along with it! I’m recommending the leaky boob to some recently pregnant friends of mine 🙂 I’m excited to share it with them!

  6. Encouragement and education on breastfeeding will help many parents and soon to be parents. From my experience people are dumbfounded when they know I’m still breastfeeding my toddler. I try to do it discreetly in a baby carrier however some people get nosy and peep through the hood. It doesn’t discourage me since I know I’m going to go with my child’s lead on when he’s ready to wean. But I don’t want him to see their reaction and take it as a bad thing on what he’s doing.

  7. Sara norris says

I loved reading in the recent newsletter about the changes that have come with a nursing toddler. It made me think back to my own nursing experience and the vast difference of nursing a newborn versus a two year old. People always questioned why she was still nursing. I loved it. I loved that I didn’t have to guess, she told me what she wanted. It was different, but so beautiful.

  8. I’d love to see more breastfeeding humor.

  9. Marina Schekoske says

I’m looking forward to reading about feeding passed the age of 1 and how to keep this going successfully

  10. Good luck to all in contest

  11. Jessica CG says

Since I just signed up, I can’t comment on the two newsletters, but anything about breastfeeding would be very helpful to me.

  12. I just signed up for your news letter and iam so excited to get my very 1st news letter and start reading. Iam going to print them off and keep yhem in a folder so i can share with other moms that dont have internet.

  13. love hearing about other women’s breastfeeding stories <3 It's so helpful to hear from other mamas who are frank about the successes and challenges of their journey.

  14. Maria Loegering says

    Everything was great. More ppd

I am new to your newsletter! Would love to see info on milk sharing and donation!

  17. I just love reading personal stories so that you realize you’re not alone.

  18. Liz Ticona says

I’m new to your newsletter but I hope to get more articles and support on breastfeeding. My first baby boy, I felt very alone in it and so I gave up and didn’t nurse him , now i’m due with my 2nd child in July so I hope to be now more informed and know that I’m not alone in how hard breastfeeding is but so worth it 🙂

  19. Marcelle Simpson says

I love TLB. Thank you, Nicole Gerber, for introducing me! Wouldn’t have made it to 14mo and going strong without the support and information I’ve found here.

  20. I like reading the personal stories. They are encouraging.

  21. Stephanie Sangatanan says

    The encouragement and practical advise

  22. So excited to read more newsletters! I would love to read encouraging stories and how to continue breastfeeding until you’re ready to wean when others are judgmental and rude about it!

  23. From the first newsletter I liked that you had a model search calling. Not that it was a model search but that it was about being confident no matter your size. I would like to see the newsletter shorter. It was a bit long especially around the recipe part. Condense the scroll factor is what I am getting at. I hope you also got the name part right at the beginning or will get it right. Right now it is just code. I’m excited for the next newsletter you guys did an excellent first one! Keep up the good work!!

  24. I like the stories & encouragement.

  25. I look forward to reading about success with breastfeeding beyond the first year! It’s hard to find people who encourage extended breastfeeding in my community. It’s nice to have a support network just a click away!

  26. Just signed up for the newsletter. Follow TLB on Facebook and love it!

  27. Danielle R. says

I’d like to see more photos and stories about difficulties beginning nursing even if it’s not your first baby.

  28. Personal stories are awesome!

  29. I would love to see an article about weaning a booby junkie!

  30. I love how vital articles from TLB go. To me that tells me how relatable whys is written is and even if we have different journeys there are always common elements. That’s incredible to me. Parenthood is such a sacred journey and it’s tough! But TLB provides laughs and frames and those mmhmm moments that you just want to click “share” and enjoy sign your friends.

  31. Would love to win! Such an awesome giveaway! 😀

  41. Love the Leaky B@@b! Thanks for normalizing Breastfeeding past infancy… In part thanks to your lovely posts, pics, and stories, my daughter and I have made it longer in our BF journey than I ever planned – 15 months and going strong! Would love to continue seeing posts & blogs about what life is like nursing a toddler!

  42. maybe reviews/comparisons on breast pumps that are typically covered by insurance.

  43. Becca sullivan says

I just started reading your newsletter but I saw you at mommycon Chicago and would love to see everything you talked about there. All about knowing we are enough and of course how to stay above the negativity and stereo types that people have about breastfeeding especially extended breastfeeding. And keeping us up to date on useful nursing/parenting/baby products.

  44. Jessica Kae Buzzell says

I’d like to read stories from moms about their own experiences. For example, I’m a mom of 5 who attempted to breastfeed each child but only successfully surpassed the 3 week mark with my youngest, who is also my only daughter. All my boys were lactose intolerant (one had a severe milk allergy) AND terrible reflux. Now with my daughter, I never imagined nursing past a year, but here she is 2 1/2 years old and going strong. My biggest obstacle with her (aside from the seemingly inevitable cases of mastitis) was having to eliminate things from my diet to figure out why my breastmilk seemed to upset her tummy. It turned out to be some sort of intolerance/allergy to any and all artificial sugars!! Something many women may not even consider. We can all help each other in ways we may not even realize.

  45. This is so awesome!

  46. im so glad we found you! Your page and blog has helped me to gianlly be successful at breastfeeding. My son and I are going 8 months strong!

  47. Michele meighan says

    This is so wonderful

  54. i love tlb and am looking forward for the support the second time around that I didn’t know existed the first time.

  56. Maryann Sherrick says

    Yay! Thanks for the chance!

  57. Krissy reed says

    struggling with their breastfeeding journey.

  59. I would LOVE this, especially the pump!

  60. Maryann Sherrick says

I’d love to see more inspirational stories <3

  61. Amy Geller says

if I remember correctly the second newsletter had a lot of different info/links. I really appreciate all of it but I in general am more likely to read what’s in newsletters if I don’t feel overwhelmed by info. But seriously, it’s all good/useful so maybe not–just a thought! Love all you do!

  62. Vanessa S. says

I just signed up for the emails, but I’m excited to start receiving them!

  63. I just signed up for your newsletters but I’d like to read about the weaning process. My “baby” has been self weaning and I’m having mixed emotions!

  64. Jessica Miller says

Just signed up for the newsletter but pretty awesome and generous giveaway 🙂

  65. Erin Hartnett says

I would really like to see information about extended breastfeeding and how to maintain the relationship.

  66. Antoinette says

I’ve been part of The Leaky Boob since December 2010. I’ve learned so much about breastfeeding and I’m proud to say that both my boys have been breastfed past 1 year (little one turned one year on 22 April). I haven’t read any newsletter but I’m excited to receive them.

  67. I would like to see more of getting the message out that breastfeeding isn’t always easy for everyone and confidence is key. From the minute we give birth, there is a lot of pressure. I had very well meaning nurses but I put so much time focusing on what they said I “should be doing” instead of enjoying my baby and the experience. Luckily I figured that out soon but I know lots of women that gave up too soon. And that’s okay too, if that’s their choice but when you want to breastfeed and feel you have to give up, that makes me sad.

  68. I would like to see some reviews of breast feeding friendly products, such as pumps etc

  69. This is amazing! Thank you!

  70. I liked the beyond yelling and messy children segments.

  71. I love all the encouragement and support! I would love to read personal stories of the journey other moms have gone through. It’s great to know that we are not alone in the struggles that breastfeeding can sometimes bring us.

  72. I’d love to see some info/tips for moms who have excess lipase in their milk. Pumping has been a real struggle for us because I cannot freeze the milk without scalding it first.

    Keep up the fantastic work!

  73. I’m a first time mom so I’d love to read an article that deals with advice for continuing to breastfeed when you’re feeling like you’ve had enough but baby’s too young/not ready to wean.

  74. new to the newsletter but have been following you on fb and Instagram for a while. I love the support and knowledge you post. And the inspiration to keep going

  75. I’d love more tips for nursing toddlers, especially how to keep them from pulling on your top in public (I don’t mind feeding him in public, but don’t want the world to see my business).

  76. This would be the greatest blessing! Even being given the chance to win this is bringing tears to my eyes!

  77. in newsletters I would like to see about the practical aspects of feeding past 12 months and still having routine?
Also gentle suggestions for encouraging self settling and when this would be age appropriate.

I love tlb only trouble is I’m in oz so many things do not translate as we use metric system and also many retailers aren’t available here that you recommend so that is tough.

  78. I love anything that helps support moms

  79. Thank you for going International
It’s nice to see encouragement for breastfeeding toddlers and past the first year! I’m at that stage and need to come to positive pages to recover from the rude comments received on a daily basis. She JUST turned one 🙁

  80. I didn’t even realize you put out a newsletter! 🙂

  81. So excited for this giveaway 😀

  82. I just signed up for your newsletter. I’ve been following your Instagram page for awhile. I love hearing stories from other moms. It’s a great way to bless and encourage one another.

  83. I thought the story of your changing relationship was fantastic. I was rushed (peer pressure) to end the nursing relationship with my daughter earlier than I would’ve liked. I’m still nursing my 8-month-old boy now, and with the encouragement of your site and people like you, I hope to have a long, happy nursing journey with him.

  84. I love the support. Please keep that up. I’m about to have baby #3 and hope to breastfeed much longer than I did with my first 2.

  85. Just started reading your newsletters but I would love to see more articles on specific challenges of breastfeeding like lip/tongue ties, inverted nipples, etc.

  87. would like to see info on balancing routine with extended feeding
Also gentle self settling help and when it’s age appropriate

  88. I am new to this site!! We are in the planning stages of baby number 3. I am always looking for tips on breastfeeding!! I tend to have over supply and high lipase.

  93. Monica Flores says

I’m so excited about this giveaway!

I had latch issues and exclusively pumped for a couple of months after a cesarean. It was a heartbreaking journey, and I felt unsupported and like I was failing. I am now pregnant with baby #2 and looking forward to the birth of my second son in July, and confident that I have the support (through sites like yours and in person) to have a different path with this wee boy– and also the confidence to know that whatever the outcome, I am not a failure!

  94. Irene Apassingok says

I love the Leaky Boob! I first saw them on Instagram and now plan to follow them on Facebook. I don’t breastfeed from the tap, but I pump, so my baby girl gets her milk “to-go”. I only pump a few ounces a day and have been supplementing with formula since baby girl was 3 months old.

  95. I just signed up to start receiving the newsletter but I would love to see tips on how to encourage others to continue breastfeeding without getting told off.

Personally, my son had a tongue tie at birth that was corrected and things improved at one week, but then at 4 months he was not gaining well and had to start supplementing. 162. I would like to see articles with tips on returning to work and pumping.

  163. thank you! As a first time mom, I’d love any info you can provide on “forceful letdown,” as that’s the issue I seem to be having. There are lots of resources on what to do if you aren’t producing enough milk, but my issue is the opposite and my poor sputtering, gassy baby and I think it’s a real problem!

  164. Wow! Such great items

  165. Breastfeeding baby #2 at present. Enjoy the support from the leaky boob!

  166. I stopped breastfeeding with my daughter earlier than I would have liked because of lipase/ going back to work. I struggled emotionally with this and suffered from PP anxiety. Articles on either would be great! Amazing giveaway!

  185. love the reminder that other moms are dealing with similar issues

  186. I thought they were well laid out and informative of what you have to offer!

  187. I know you have done a lot on extended nursing, but it’s what relates to me most right now so I’d love to see more! I work in healthcare (pediatrics) and it is thankfully the normal to go until one year. This is great and I know much different than a lot of places. But technically you aren’t covered to continue pumping at work past a year and everyone I know at work has stopped nursing at 1 year. My first stopped just shy of 2 1/2 on her own and I’m letting my 16 month old self wean as well. Because of shear guilt that I was inconveniencing coworkers, right at 1 year I switched to just morning and night. Articles discussing dealing with that transition time are most helpful to me.

  250. Aleecia Marrufo says

Hi! Thank you so much for bringing awareness and love to breastfeeding mothers. You have inspired many. Myself included.

My son was born with severe heart defects and trisomy 21 (down syndrome). He spent the first 9 weeks in the hospital enduring multiple surgeries and procedures. He was tube fed a special formula due to post op complications. Multiple doctors, surgeons, nurses, and even LC’s and PT’s/OT’s all told me he would never even take a bottle. Let alone latch to my breast. Well, October 21st he was cleared for breast milk. We tried bottles to no avail. I had been pumping every two hours round the clock to ensure I would have ample supply if he could ever have my milk. I put him to my breast and he didn’t do anything. I was heart broken. And terrified. We tubed his feed. A few hours later we tried again. Still nothing. We tubed another feed. I went and bought a nipple shield. That night he latched. And ate. From my breast. And he hasn’t stopped since! He is almost nine months and still EBF. We ditched the shield almost three months ago. Next month will be our 6 month nursiversary. We have no plans of stopping any time soon.

Thank you for all of your hard work and inspiration. I knew other women had been through difficult situations as well from following your page and I knew we could feed the way we hoped. So again, many thanks.

    Aleecia.

  284. Julissa Koelble says

I didn’t know there had already been two issues of this news letter! I am very exited and looking forward to the newer editions coming up. I lived in Peru for a short time and was pleasantly surprised with the acceptance of public breastfeeding and the way in which pregnant women and people with small children where often given priority treatment (as in getting ahead of the line at the back and such), and no one got angry about it!. Coming back to the U.S. I miss that special treatment and would like to see a little of what other moms around the world experience when it comes to breastfeeding in public (or not) and what motherhood in general is like for them.

I just signed up for the newsletter, but I think it might be good to offer support to NICU moms in regards to breastfeeding and exclusively pumping. My daughter was born at 26 weeks and spent 4.5 months in the NICU. I pumped for 8 months before I had to stop for health reasons. I felt that the lactation consultants had given up on me. When my daughter came home, I nursed her on my own several times, but her reflux was too severe and she has extremely slow growth, so is still on high calorie formula at 13 months. She does get some breast milk from the deep freeze now. I wish that I had more support during that time. Pumping was very difficult for me.

  391. Carrie Miller says

I can confidently say that without the support of pages and websites like TLB so many women would not have the resources they need to be successful with breastfeeding and gentle parenting. It is imperative that resources like this be continually provided for woman and men to become more knowledgeable and empowered. My family and my hubby’s family are very uneducated when it comes to breastfeeding and gentle parenting. I really feel that my success with parenting and breastfeeding have solely been on the constant reminders and education from TLB that I am doing things correctly. I do not think I would be breastfeeding my 2 year old daughter with out the resources you provide all day, every day. And I know I’m not the only one who is being helped from your resources. Thank you for al that you do for women and families all over the world! 🙂

I’m happy for people like you who encourage breastfeeding! I’m on my 2nd baby and while I was still pregnant with him, I thought of only breastfeeding for maximum of 6 months. But now I can see how breastfeeding not only keeps him healthy but also keeps that bond between us. I was extremely saddened when I had to undergo emergency surgery and couldnt breastfeed him. now I am recovering and I’d love to breastfeed him as long as I can!

  421. Sarah Akers says

I love reading TLB newsletters! I think more links or articles about weaning, either by baby’s lead or mother’s, would be awesome. I get that this site is more about current breastfeeding, but covering all the bases would be really helpful.

  426. I just subscribed and am looking forward to reading about extended breastfeeding. Not many in my circle do, so it’s nice to read about other mama’s experiences.

  427. I would like to see more on weaning a toddler. It is causing mom major anxiety/stress, baby is not ready, not getting much help from spouse or outside family.

  428. Jessica Johnson says

I absolutely love the issues on changing relationships. My last baby is 11 months old, and even though we see no end in sight to nursing, reading others experiences about how their bond is still strong after weaning gives me hope. Sorry for any errors, typing while breastfeeding lol.

  429. I haven’t received a newsletter yet, but I would love to see information in an upcoming newsletter about breastfeeding with Diabetes. I’m an insulin dependent Type 2 diabetic and I’m really worried about how I’ll go managing my sugar levels and everything when I start breastfeeding my baby due in August. As if breastfeeding wasn’t scary enough, I’m freaking out about having highs and lows while feeding 🙁

  457. love the stories!! Makes me feel like I’m not alone in this new journey!

  460. Just subscribed to your news letter! Can’t wait to read it!!

  461. Since my LO has recently started solids, I’d love some info on balancing that and breastfeeding.

  462. I’d love to see more features on African American mothers who breastfeed or just have more pictures of them. In general our rates of breastfeeding are very low.

  463. Michelle T says

I’m not sure which is the first, second, or third… I’ve been occasionally receiving emails from you for a while… In the one from today, I like the comic! It was a very useful shape lol!

  464. Michelle. Curtis says

Love your site and newsletter. I like the stories from other moms and the comic strips !!

  465. Karlee Gagnon says

I would love more tips on pumping. I wasn’t able to with our first and I’m hoping to be able to with our second.

  466. Jennifer otting says

I like your newsletter about weaning. I am still breastfeeding my 28.5 month old and now a newborn. I am trying to figure the right time to wean him.

  467. The whole newsletter was so fun! It has been a WHILE since I read through more than the first couple of lines of a newsletter. I didn’t even realize these were the first two newsletters until just *now* – I kept thinking, “How have I been missing this newsletter all this time? This is FANTASTIC!”
I’m not sure what makes it so great. The humor/satire mixed with helpful information, recipes, real-life stories, etc…just a fab combo. Thanks 🙂

  468. I really enjoyed the weaning info. I have an almost 3 yr old nursing and a 9 month old. I am starting to feel pretty emotionally/physically done with nursing my first. Anyways, the info definitely interested me. I like the newsletters so far- a lot! 🙂

  469. Well for me personally they arrived at the same time as baby number 2. I haven’t visited the website in well over a year and I was just beginning to search out resources again. Now I have plenty of late night reading material.

  470. Emily Myers says

I’d love to see articles on other uses of breastmilk and also articles on donating breastmilk (if there are storage standards, locations that will accept, ect.)

  471. The comic was pretty great!!

  472. I think it’s all a great newsletter. The comic at the end of the last one was cute. ^_^ I like the Ask and Expert. Over all it’s a great thorough newsletter. 🙂

  473. I just subscribed, but I would love to see stories on full time working moms who have been successful at extended breast feeding.

  474. I LOVED the editorial in this week’s newsletter about all the different ways her babies weaned. My first two also weaned much earlier than I would have preferred (at 15 and 14 months, respectively) because my milk supply would completely dry up at the end of my first trimester with my next pregnancy. My third baby didn’t make it to his birthday, so I never got the opportunity to nurse him. I’m actually enjoying this little break of having my body to myself right now, while I’m waiting to heal before trying for our fourth (and last) baby (though my boobs are just GONE…what’s with that?!). I’m really hoping that things work out with our last and that I’m able to nurse for at least two years (which is a challenge, since I work full-time outside the home). There’s just something so special about those cuddles while they nurse!

  475. I just recently signed up and have only had a chance to read this recent newsletter. I absolutely loved it! I really enjoyed the fact that it’s supportive no matter how far anyone has made it in breastfeeding. I didn’t do too well with my first, only made it three months while supplementing, I just couldn’t get the hang of it and had no support. I am currently breastfeeding our second son and have made it to nine months, but I a have been having the hardest time with sleep since we brought him home. I would love to see a newsletter about how to get a better routine with the attachment of nursing. How to get babies to sleep more than an hour without having to be attached.

  476. Georgia Gonzalez says

What to expect with newborn cluster feeding info helped me to get through that time without worrying!

  477. Hayley Elliott says

I newsletter on how to nurse while babywearing in all the different types of carriers. Nursing on the go is so convenient, but can sometimes be quite hard to figure out.

  478. I would love info on getting a baby to take a bottle (if it’s already on here sorry! I must have missed it). I’m a WAHM so I’m with my baby most of the time but it would nice to be able to leave her for a little bit of I need to. Thank you this blog is great!!

  479. The wonderful stories and encouragement!

  480. Only signed up recently so not sure on first 2 issues but it would be great to see some more real stories like people who started off with complications breastfeeding and still succeeded to continue feeding. Or stories just about the journey as it’s very worrying for a new mum whether they will be able to do or not and it will show them that everyone is different and there might be hurdles to get over but it can be done in the end

  481. I think a short, inspirational story from a mom who has had a specific breastfeeding struggles would be nice, and maybe to balance it out a funny one as well.

  482. Really explore the cultural ‘Booby traps’ that we have today and really create a community.

  483. I enjoyed all the various linked articles– something for everyone! The comic did make me grin 🙂

  484. Christina Geraci says

I just signed up for your newsletter, but any articles that offer encouragement to keeping pressing on with breastfeeding, staying healthy, recipes…love them all!

  485. i am so grateful to the leaky community. I would love some guidance on ways of celebrating breastfeeding and sharing my experiences in ways that don’t make women who don’t or can’t bf feel judged.

  486. Miranda McCaig says

I love reading Sugarbaby’s Breastfeeding Tips. I think that would be an awesome addition!

  487. rachel carota says

The latest newsletter I liked the weaning tips.

  488. i just signed up for the newsletter. I have been with TLB since almost the beginning. I can’t wait to have all this help again with the next one. He/she will be here in October.

  489. Kristi Morton says

I liked reading your personal breastfeeding story and how you weaned each child. It helped me to feel less guilt about how I weaned my oldest and feel more confident that it can go smoother with this baby.

  490. Katie Maroney says

I love hearing your personal stories!

  491. I would love to see more funny things “when breastfeeding goes bad” (not bad as but those things that happen to all of us!) also maybe more on staying strong against nurses when you are in hospital. With my first the nurse gave me bad advice and I wasn’t able to nurse.

  492. I would love to read more about encouraging moms to breast feed without sounding like that person that everyone rolls their eyes at! Is that possible ?! HA! Also I would love to learn about helping encourage moms to get milk donations and more of a support network there & maybe encouraging moms TO donate to other moms! I often read about moms that have to supplement and they are horrified, I think I would feel angry with my body personally. I help one mom and donate my milk to her since she can’t produce enough. I wish I could donate more to other moms!

  493. Suzanne Anderson says

I’ve only just started following you however I’ve found both the stories about your Daughter and her dancing along with your own experiences breastfeeding inspirational. So maybe more inspirational stories from yourself and other women.

  494. I Wish that there was more for women who suddenly have to stop breast feeding due to illness or the need to take medications and want to resume breastfeeding when they’re done taking the medication. I had complications after giving birth and every lactation consultant I called was too busy to answer or get me an appointment and the la leche league in my area didn’t know what to do. I bfd for 7 months and I had to stop for 2 and my son never went back. It was heartbreaking

  495. Rhiannon Ramkissoon says

Love the information and support here!! Would be thrilled to win the Diono!!
