Virtual bra fitting experience from a Leaky

I’ve referred quite a few Leakies to A Mother’s Boutique for virtual bra fittings and great costumer service in selecting a bra.  Recently one had such a positive experience she wrote to tell me about it and I thought I’d share it with everyone.

A Mother's Boutique shop, nursing bras, breastfeeding

Dear Jessica,

I wanted to thank you for referring me to Judy at A Mother’s Boutique. I was able to experience an awesome virtual bra fitting service from the comfort of my own home. Honestly, I had doubt thinking how I can order a bra from home and it actually fit well. I emailed Judy inquiring about nursing bras since I am large breasted I have a hard time finding bras with good support. I received an immediate response from Judy regarding my inquiry. She asked me a list of questions such as my current bra size I was wearing, how the bra fit, what I was looking for in a bra and if I was currently pregnant or how old is my little one.  These questions were detailed questions besides the famous question of “what are your measurements”. That question is highly important, but Judy goes beyond the norm to make sure she finds the right bra that fits perfectly for each momma. I was looking for a bra with good support, an underwire and plain in style. After answering all the questions, I received an email with what size I should be wearing and a list of bras that covered what I wanted in a nursing bra. It turned out I have been wearing the wrong bra size my entire life. I thought the size she told me couldn’t possibly be right but knowing I can exchange the bras I decided to order based on the sizing Judy provided for me. I choose the Smooth Nursing Bra and the Anita. The bras came within 2 days and there was no charge for shipping which is an added bonus. I hate having to pay for shipping. Each bra I purchased cost $55.00 which to some people may seem expensive, but for the quality and service it is well worth every penny. I can tell by the quality that these bras will last a long time. Once the bras arrived in the mail I tried them on and they fit like a glove. I couldn’t be happier with the service provided by Judy at A Mother’s Boutique. I highly recommend the Leakies to try a virtual bra fitting with Judy because it was an overall easy and awesome experience with a wonderful outcome.

Thanks Again,

Brianne

One Happy Leaky

After years and years of wearing ill-fitting bras and giving up on nursing bras entirely, I have finally gotten into bras that are not only comfortable and fit well, but are cute and quality.  It turns out I didn’t like nursing bras that didn’t fit me well and were not well made.  Now I love them, thanks to Judy’s help and the breastfeeding bras I have will last beyond my breastfeeding years and are so cute I will still enjoy wearing them.  I will admit that I’ve never wanted to spend much on bras, it felt like such a wasteful expense so I consistently purchased cheap bras that were uncomfortable and fell apart.  My experience mirrors what Brianne enjoyed as well and I can say with confidence, it’s worth getting fitted and spending a little extra for a bra that will fit well and last.  Thanks to Brianne for sharing!

Nursing Bra Express Sexy Lace Nursing Bra Giveaway

I’m delighted to bring you a giveaway from TLB sponsor Nursing Bra Express. With a wide range of styles and products, Nursing Bra Express has something for everyone, fitting from A-M cups.  I hope you enjoy this interview with founder and owner Dara Davignon.  She shares about her business, working with moms, and what she personally looks for in a bra.

TLB:  What is your favorite part about working with moms and helping them get into comfortable, quality bras?

Dara:  The nicest thing about moms (and moms-to-be) that I’ve encountered is how nice they are! I have yet to come across an difficult or overly hormonal pregnant or nursing mom.  Any mom that has called in, has been very excited about her new journey as a mom and is looking forward to nursing. Times are tough, and it’s so refreshing to know there is a lot of positive energy out there.

TLB:  What are mistakes women often make when selecting a bra?

Dara:  A lot of first time moms immediately choose an underwire bra.  If they call or email me, I have to route them to a comfort bra style for their early stages of nursing…many of them don’t realize how uncomfortable an underwire bra will be when their milk is stabilizing.

TLB:  Share your favorite tip for finding a good fitting bra and any advice you have for buying bras online.

Dara:  Our staff lactation consultant wrote an article that’s posted on our website about “when to buy a nursing bra”, there are lots of helpful tips about fit. I hope all moms who come to our website read this article http://www.nursingbraexpress.com/content/when-buy-nursing-bra-proper-bra-fit-nursing-mom .

TLB:  What do you personally look for in a bra?

Dara:  I like stylish bras best, like the Sexy Lace Nursing Bra we are giving away.  The best thing about this new bra is that it’s cotton, non-underwire, affordable AND it looks good!

Nursing Bra Express Giveaway

I’m delighted to bring you a giveaway from a new TLB sponsor Nursing Bra Express. With a wide range of styles and products, Nursing Bra Express has something for everyone, fitting from A-M cups.  I hope you enjoy this interview with founder and owner Dara Davignon.  She shares about her business, family and commitment to breastfeeding her favorite bra fitting tip.

TLB: What should my readers know about Nursing Bra Express and about you and your family?

Dara: Nursing Bra Express is not only an online store, but also a place where moms can come to get breastfeeding support. 50% of Nursing Bra Express.com dedicated to breastfeeding support and the other 50% is for the sale of bras, clothing and breastfeeding accessories.  All the breastfeeding support is written by Veronica Tingzon, IBCLC of Oceanside, CA and she also hosts my blog and is active on my Facebook page.  I am located in Holyoke, MA and in addition to my website I also do home bra fittings for pregnant and nursing moms in surrounding towns.

TLB: How did you come to start Nursing Bra Express?

Dara: Kind of an uncommon story!  I graduated with a degree in Fashion Merchandising in 2005.  I was a buyer at a high end clothing store for 2 years and then the store closed.  I was out of a job and looking for something fashion related and here in Western Massachusetts, there’s not a whole lot of it here in the sticks!  I saw an ad for a nursing bra buyer for a local breastfeeding apparel company.  I was 24 years old and thought “a nursing bra buyer?? No way! I know nothing about breastfeeding!” however it was the only job I could find that had something to do with my background in clothing and merchandising, without moving hours away.  Never did I think as a college student in fashion, that I’d end up as a nursing bra buyer! I applied, got the job, and learned to LOVE every aspect of it! I loved helping moms find bras to make their nursing experience a great one, and loved all the lactation consultants and mommy-bloggers that I met through my job.  I worked as the nursing bra buyer for 6 years and really got to know a ton about breastfeeding, how important it is for a mom to nurse and to encourage every mom to stick with it.  I loved my job but did not enjoy the corporate environment that came with it.

After 6 years of working behind a desk, Nursing Bra Express began with a purpose of me being able to work for myself and to go out into the community to actually measure and fit moms for nursing bras, in the comfort of their own homes, and even at local WIC clinics. I had several friends tell me how much they would love a personal maternity/nursing bra fitter and I am very much a people person and love meeting new moms! In addition to personal bra fittings, came my website where I can sell to moms all over the US and Canada, and also provide an abundance of breastfeeding information there for them.

TLB: How do you balance family and running a business?

Dara: Another uncommon story!  I am only 31 years old, my only family is my partner and his 3 children, I don’t have any of my own children yet, but plan to someday soon (I am keeping my fingers crossed!) Owning my own business will allow me to have a flexible schedule when I am a nursing mother!

TLB: What is your favorite tip for picking out nursing and maternity bras?

Dara: Comfort is key!  It doesn’t matter how pretty the bra looks, if it doesn’t fit or if you are not comfortable in it, nursing your little one will be a challenge.  Breasts full of milk need to “breathe” and moms must wear nursing bras they can feel relaxed in, so they can enjoy this most precious time with baby – pain free!

THIS GIVEAWAY IS CLOSED!

Just for The Leaky Boob readers, Dara is giving away an Easy Bra by Majamas in the winner’s choice of size and either black or toffee.  This USA made bra is super comfortable and any woman can wear it.  Pregnant, nursing or neither!  The Easy Bra is a favorite of Dara’s and you can find more information on it in her store.
