#LeakyLooks Presents #TLBMovesFashion!

by Kileah McIlvain

I am SO excited to kick off our #TLBMoves Campaign with our #LeakyLooks #TLBMovesFashion editions! This is the first of several collections I get to share with you Leakies over the next few weeks!

One of the biggest things we want to encourage each other to do is to MOVE. Whatever you’re doing! Not just sports or working out, but PLAYING, Hiking, having FUN with your family, making better choices that help you thrive in the season of parenting you are in! I hope you love these collections I’ve picked out for you this week! Don’t forget to show us YOUR #LeakyLooks this week on Instagram and Facebook! Tag us and inspire us (and I’d LOVE to feature your look!).

Day On The Lake

A Day At The Lake

Our family spent a day at a local lake (we have a LOT of them here, in the PNW!) and gosh, it was GREAT! Here I have a GREAT adjustable Shake Maternity Nursing Tankini from Mommy Gear paired with one of my FAVORITE Ju-Ju-Be Tokidoki bags! Having a lightweight, easy to get on-and-off water sling from Beachfront Baby Wraps is a MUST for enjoying the cool water with your baby! Thinkbaby suncreen in SPF50+ has ALSO been an essential for our family! We all have pretty fair skin and BURN like nobody’s business and this is one of the ONLY non-toxic EWG-recommended suncreens on the market that works and doesn’t give my little ones rashes (a problem we’ve had with so many other “safe” brands!). I finished this look off with some fabulous Chewbeads and a pair of sunnies from H&M and voila! You’re ready for Sun, Water, Play and getting your #TLBMoves on!

Marathon Mama

Marathon Mama

I am so excited to feature this look based off of this Belabumbum Nursing Racerback Cami specifically designed to be nursing-friendly AND high quality activewear! I have short hair, which makes using a Bolder Band from Simply Carried a MUST-HAVE (did you SEE what it says? #wearallthebabies! Yes. I want 5 of them. lol.And yes. The carrier would be amazing, too lol.). Staying hydrated with Eyla’s insulated water bottles are such a great choice! Tons of options for both kids AND adults and come in a range of glass, non-toxic plastic, and stainless steel! I added in a great inexpensive duffle bag from Target for carrying both yours and baby’s things in! And I don’t know if you are aware, but LUSH has the most AMAZING anti-chaffing powders/deoderants ever. (okok, my personal opinion but seriously. One bottle lasts a looong time, and it makes your skin so silky on those hot days! And smells ah-may-zing.). ThinkBaby Sunscreen in SPF50+ because NOBODY wants peeling sunburned skin in summer. Ewe.

Movies In the Park

Movie In The Park

One of Portland’s favorite summer pastimes is going out to the many outdoor movie screenings at dusk around the metro area! (Pretty sure there’s even a Portlandia episode that explains this. Seriously.) I centered this look around one of the most gorgeous lightweight nursing tops from Pink Blush Maternity paired with some simple skinny jeans. (bet you can guess what sandals I’d put with these! Yup. Birks. Big shocker there. :P) Unless it’s breezy when the sun goes down (sometimes this happens) You’ll probably be looked at as the local blood bank source for the local mosquitos so I added Badger’s natural bug repellant! DEET free and doesn’t make skin freak out or make you grow a 3rd arm. Bringing snacks and liquids for everyone is tradition here and Eyla has the perfect lightweight collapsible storage containers and double-insulated water bottles and thermoses! You may have to trek a bit to find the perfect spot to watch the screen so pushing baby in an Orbitbaby stroller is such a comfortable and posh way to go! Don’t forget to grab a great blanket throw from Target and BAM. Family night at the outdoor movie in the park is a GO!

#LeakyLooks: Fashion, Fireworks, Fabulous! (And a Giveaway!)

by Kileah McIlvain

Can you feel it?! Summer, Fireworks (okok. I know some of you don’t like it, but hear me out. You might like the outfit I put together for the 4th better than the actual BOOM BOOM. lol. That is OK!) and simple yet fabulous outfits that allow you the freedom to explore the outdoors, grill outside, neighborhood movie nights projected on an old white sheet, juicy popsicles running down your chin….yeah. I get a bit excited!

We’ve got such a great collection for you Leakies this week! (Plus….a FANTASTIC giveaway from Applecheeks!). Have fun! Pin, Post, Instagram- let me know how you like these looks and what YOUR favorite summer outfits are for #BoobOutFashion!

Saturday Farmer’s Market

Farmer's Market

Isn’t this look adorable? I’ve been enjoying this lightweight nursing infinity scarf from Applecheeks and I put together this look for some great fun at the local Saturday market! I even found purple apple earrings from Etsy! Chewbead bracelets are a must-have for that sweet squish as they ride around in an Uppababy stroller! Don’t forget a chic Namaste mini messenger diaper bag in Caribbean Blue from Luv My Bag and an easy, lightweight pair of bermuda shorts from Old Navy and an easy-to-nurse-in White Flutter Sleeve top from Seraphine! (Yes. I totally added in my favorite Birks…because SERIOUSLY. They are amazing. And I live in them come summertime!)

Fireworks and BBQ

Fireworks!

This one has got to be one of my favorite summer looks so far! I centered this whole look on the Tula baby carrier in Skipper! The striped nursing tank is one of my favorite tops from Figure 8 Maternity and I added in a simple red skirt from SheInside. Comfortable Ink Calf hair blue wedge Toms complete this patriotic look! And you’re probably wondering where that gorgeous striped diaper bag came from? Ikabags on Etsy makes them! Don’t forget an eco-friendly way to transport food and water!

Easygoing Boho Mama

The Easygoing Mama

This beautiful and easygoing look is based around the gorgeous BB Slen sling from Babylonia USA! Made ethically and from sustainable resources, this compliments the gorgeous breezy maxi dress from Maurices! I chose this gorgeous maxi for its range of sizes available and the gorgeous print (and easy nursing access!). Wooden and crocheted chew necklace from Etsy and an easy geometric wedges from Toms (as well as a gorgeous bag from Luv My Bag!)-you’re all set for an easygoing day that’s comfortable and functional AND lovely!

Leaky Looks: Let’s Welcome Summer Edition!

by Kileah McIlvain

Hey Leakies! Summer is HERE (ok. ok. It officially starts on Sunday…but around here all of the schools have just gotten out for the summer and you can literally smell the sunscreen and freedom wafting in on the warm breezes we’ve been getting here in the Pacific Northwest!

This week we’re giving you some beautiful looks celebrating the beginning of summer in STYLE! pssssst…..Don’t forget to stay tuned for our Applecheeks Nursing Infinity Scarf giveaway!

To The Zoo We Go

day at the zoo!

This look I had to put together as we’re planning a zoo trip soon! Keeping it light and layered with an Applecheeks Infinity Nursing Scarf, a Yummielife.com nursing tank, and a Target.com pleated maxi skirt completed with a J. Crew summer hat andSalt Water Sandals from Modcloth! It’s important to have a simple but capable bag like this beautiful plum colored Juno Blu Pumping Bag and keep hydrated with a Sigg water bottle and I also added in some California Baby suncreen (great for kids AND adults!) and one of my favorite lightweight strollers: the Joovy Groove UltraLight! Set for a day of primate watching and exploring the animal kingdom!

Concert On The Lawn

Summer Concert On The Lawn

This look was one of my favorites as here in Portland we get the treat of sooo many wonderful summer concerts outside! I centered this look around the Floressa Ayana Maxi Dress from Queen Bee, a Chambray jacket from Lulus.com, and Kokoro wrap in Mon Cheri. Our delicate grass around here can get a bit dry after the hot weather we’ve been having so I added in a soft blanket from Urban OutFitters. Best part about this ensemble? The Custom wrap conversion bag from Smiling Octopus. Isn’t it just amazing?!

Summer In The City

Summer City mama

This look I curated around this beautiful lightweight button-down blouse (easy to nurse in!) fromAshleyStewart.com, the Anita Stretch microfiber nursing bra Bare Necessities and distressed jeans from Torrid.com. The cute summer hat is from Forever21.com and my current favorite suede wedges from Toms.com. When you’re trecking the concrete jungle in warmer weather, you don’t want a big bulky diaper bag to clunk around your midsection! I added in this gray canvas leather tote from Pottery Barn Kids as a sleek and understated option for carrying your essentials. Beco Soleil in Steps is one of the best lightweight carriers to explore the best haunts and food carts in with your baby!

Have a great week, Leakies! Don’t forget to enter our Applecheeks giveaway when I give the signal! Watch for it!!

#LeakyLooks: Epic MiLK Edition!

by Kileah McIlvain

Around here at the TLB hub, we’ve been getting super excited about the MiLK Conference coming up in LA! Why? Because it’s about infant feeding. About supporting all moms…in every feeding journey…for all stages. So this week I curated three looks that highlight some aspects of our feeding journeys. What accessories or wardrobe choices empower YOU to be the best YOU for YOUR moment? YOUR journey? Let us know!

Postpartum Staycation

Postpartum Staycation

Ok ok. I’m sure you snickered at the title. Postpartum-land isn’t exactly a vacation. It’s major recovery time and bonding time. But you know what? Who says you shouldn’t be pampered and loved and supported to help ease recovery and rest? I centered this look around a Belabumbum nursing gown that is loose, lightweight and cotton. You can wear with or without a soft wireless bra like this Bravado Silk Seamless nursing bra and some cushy slippers like these great Kiltie Moccasins from L.L. Bean! One of my besties gave me the Earth Mama Angel Baby Postpartum Recovery essentials bundle…the bottom balm? And the cooling mist for hemmorhoids? Yes. Just do it. I have 4 hobbits. I know these things. My wee lambs always come earthside with super-sensitive skin so we quickly learned that certain brands like Weleda continue to deliver in terms of clean chemical-free body products for the whole family! You and baby will be needing tons of skin-to-skin time so I collected a Swaddle Designs muslin blanket, Kate Quinn newborn hat, and a Cotton Babies Flip diaper (brownie points if you can guess which one!). Milk coming in can mean VERY tender breasts. The Cariwell breast soothers work magic and sooth those inflamed tissues working hard to make some milk! And don’t forget this beautiful Tula Migaloo Sorbet ring sling!

Don’t Stress Just Go!

Don't Stress Just Go! We all need those options for days where we have to hit the ground running. I wanted to center this look based on the colors of the AppleCheeks infinity nursing scarf! Hues of Blue and Plum really work well for most skin tones and a skirt like this blue cotton skirt from Old Navy really elongates the legs without being too short for comfort! I paired it with the cotton H&M nursing shirt and a soft wireless Lamaze Intimates nursing bra in soft pink. One of my FAVORITE comfy yet functional shoes that are crafted to last is Born. Finished off the look with some lovely plum-colored earrings from Poshmark and the Timi & Leslie Charlie diaper bag and you’ve got a comfortable yet effortless ensemble that is going to last you through a whole day of post-school playdates and summer camps!

You WORK That Pump!

You WORK that Pump!

With this look I was just itching to feature a dress from Leche Libre’s collection! This designer is phenomenal and her subtle, utlitarian-yet-classic style really set her pieces apart. I found this Mermaid coral necklace from Humble Chic and used a Juno Blu pumping bag to compliment the Ardo Pump that I love so much (quietest pump EVER. And soooo easy to clean!). I just HAD to put in a Simple Wishes pumping bra because they WORK. And they work WELL! A simple lightweight cotton cardigan from Zara and some Crown Born vintage heels complete this versatile work look!

Leaky Looks: YOU Choose Edition!

You spoke, and I delivered! This week to kick off the month of June, AppleCheeks, Naked Tank, and Bebe Au Lait teamed up with me to give you our freshest and latest #LeakyLooks!  I asked all of our Leakies on Instagram and Facebook  the #BoobOutFashion they wanted to see MOST on our picks this week.  The top 3 came in as Boho/Hippie Mama, Beach/Daytrip Mama, and Workout Mama.  Have fun looking through your looks! Pin, share, repost, tag us and tell us what you would choose!

To The Beach We Go!

To The Beach We Go!

I think most, if not all of us, want that perfect summer dress. Light, flowing, flattering and breathable (and #BoobOut -able!). I started out with this gorgeous all-cotton Torrid maxi dress that hits loosely at the natural waist and flows comfy and loose over all of our beautiful mama shapes! I saw the AppleCheeks nursing infinity scarf and fell in love with the colors immediately! As a scarf-lover myself, this lightweight item works as a no-fuss fashion statement, nursing cover, and beach hair protector all in one! I added in a soft pink bra, a silver footbed sandal, teal leather diaper bag, and a wide-brimmed sunhat from LL Bean (and let’s not forget the chewbead bracelets! I love wearing a TON of these in the summer!). I chose to include one of EWG’s highest-rated sunscreens (and gentle on sensitive skin!) and an adorable AppleCheeks diaper. Toss in a Mastitis Patrol tee for your little, sunglasses, and your favorite soft-soled sandals and you’ve got the makings of a fantastic day in the sand and surf!

Rockin’ That Gym Look!

Rockin' That Gym Look

I got so many awesome requests to do another workout look this week! I had done a couple of looks here and there, but this has got to be my favorite collection so far! I centered this look around one of the BEST Leaky wardrobe pieces in my closet-the Naked Tank! It’s breathable, lightweight, comes in white or black, and means I don’t have to put on 3 layers to function comfortably (can we say NO OVERHEATING OR SWAMP BOOBS?! Plus, free shipping for orders over $50? Yeah. Just Do It. No pun intended. Ha.) I LOVE these Belabumbum yoga jogger pants that fit loosely in the hip and thigh and hug the ankle! The rebound racer sports bra that I chose isn’t actually a “nursing” bra, but it might as well be! the front two straps are high-quality velcro that allow you to undo a side and adjust after you empty a breast! The HydroFlask insulated water bottle has always been one of my favorite go-to’s for keeping liquids cold OR hot, depending on my needs. Add in a durable gym bag, a lightweight top to cool down in when you leave the gym and some great Asics trainers and you’ve got yourself a no-fuss, all-function workout ensemble!

Work That Bohemian Mama!

Earthy Mama

I fell in love with this cotton wrap boho skirt from oOlives on etsy and just HAD to use it to create this bohemian hippie look! A wrap skirt is such a great option for both pregnant and nursing mamas as it’s easily adjustable and comfortable (and cool!). I added in a peasant top from Walmart (inexpensive!) and a lovely bralette from Aerie.com. Now…the piece that I’m MOST excited about in this look is the Bebe au Lait muslin nursing cover in Botanica! This lightweight premium cotton muslin is the PERFECT match for a hot day, whether you need it to shield baby from sun or distraction while eating or you can drape it over a low branch to give baby extra shade! I’m pretty sure I want every print they have. Ha! I added in the Ergo carrier in Dandelion because it’s all cotton and a lighter color which means it’ll be reflecting heat more than absorbing it.  I finished off this look with a fun diaper bag, Born gladiator sandals, and an awesome multi-colored necklace from Modcloth!

So there you have it, Leakies! YOUR CHOICE. And I absolutely LOVED your ideas! I hope you like what I picked! Tag me on instagram (@theleakyboob or @abitofearth) and show me how you rock YOUR #BoobOutFashion!

PSSSSST. Remember to keep an eye out for our upcoming giveaways!

Boob Out Fashion: Spectactular Summer

by Kileah McIlvain

Last week when we released our Special Occasion Edition,  a leaky on our Instagram feed asked me about nursing SWIMWEAR. I couldn’t stop thinking about it! What IF there WAS such a thing as beautiful, functional swimwear for nursing mamas…or outdoor gear that is breastfeeding-friendly…or workout wear that made it easy to access the milk…what IF?!

Well, @megfyfewatkins ….THANK you for the idea that wouldn’t leave me. I FOUND the droids…err…clothing…you were looking for! (Yes. I’m a Star Wars nerd. More on that, later!)

By the Poolside

Swimwear

This gorgeous look is centered around the beautiful Pez D’Or La Mer 3-piece tankini set! Provides extra support for your lactating breasts, easily makes milk accessible and really compliments a wide range of figures! I added a Dotti Lazer-cut Kimono cover-up and a simple Sanuk white sandal (so dang comfy. seriously.) In the summer, chances are you’re going to want both you AND baby to cool off in the nearest cool water, so what better way to carry your squish than in a Beachfront Baby Water Ring Sling! Lightweight, dries super-fast, is easily adjustable for comfort and weight of baby and looks effortless. Add in a beautiful and functional Jelly Strands chewbead necklace, a Storksak diaper bag and some EWG-approved Badger Sunscreen and you are good to go for a beautiful day at the beach or by the poolside!

Yoga For Two

Workout

This was such a fun look to put together! I pulled this look together based on this Old Navy Burnout Tank I JUST purchased last week! It’s really easy to breastfeed in and pairs really well with the Melinda G Sports Nursing Bra that I picked out (Yes. there ARE actually sports bras that are made for the breastfeeding and pumping mama!). I love the easy cuteness of a good Bolder Band to keep sweat out of my face as I’m working out. REI has Hugger Mugger Batik yoga bags that I seriously want like…all of. I added an Echo Vessel water bottle and a great gym bag. My first carrier I ever had was an Ergobaby Original carrier. They still remain one of my go-to carriers and after birthing 4 hobbits, it has always held up to our busy lifestyle!

Take A Hike

Hiking

Living in the Pacific Northwest is kind of like saying “I live in a mecca for all things lush and outdoors.” An hour to the misty mountains. An hour to the soft-sanded coast. Deep lakes, temperate rainforests, and internationally-acclaimed hiking trails are one of our trademarks in these parts. Imagine my HAPPINESS when I discovered there is an actual clothing line designed for the active, pregnant/breastfeeding mom! Mountain Mama has an impressive line of great outdoorwear for the active outdoors mom! Crafted well from durable material and versatile for just about any wardrobe. I included the Salomon Ellipse GTX women’s hiking shoes (top-rated by Outdoor Gear Lab!) and the Lillebaby All-Seasons carrier in Stone as it’s incredibly breathable and the dimensions work so very well for both mums and dads! (see a GREAT review my husband did on them HERE!). Throw in a GORGEOUS Tekhni Pax Delta Hip Sack, some chemical-free thinksport sunscreen, and a double-insulated Kleen Kanteen stainless-steel bottle and you are set to explore the great outdoors with your family!

Are you inspired, yet?! Want to show us your summer-friendly #LeakyLooks outfits? Inspire the Leakies and tag us using our hastags on instagram or facebook! Now get outside and enjoy life in all of its summer beauty in all of your #booboutfashion awesomness!

Leaky Looks: Special Occasions

by kileah mcilvain

It’s heeeeeere! You know what I’m talking about. You get that beautifully-embossed invitation…followed by another one…and another one…and another one. Graduations, Weddings, Soirees… I don’t know about you but my mind immediately starts racing on just WHAT I’m going to wear to all of these functions. And then I start thinking about FUNCTION. Breastfeeding, without melting into a puddle of lycra and mascara and sweat, feeling comfortable and fabulous….is it even possible?! To that I say YES.

Are you ready for The Leaky Boob to help you take the guesswork out of finding such requirements?! Buckle your nursing bras, Leakies, here are our looks!

Summer Wedding Set:

Wedding Set

This look I centered around a gorgeous wrapped floral dress from Modcloth. The shades of green and cut of the dress compliment a wide range of skin tones and body curves and the lightweight stretch jersey on top provides easy access to breastfeeding (and is comfortable for all-day wear!). I absolutely LOVED the hat (hello shade!) and gold leafed necklace from H&M. Adding a classy white leather diaper bag from Storksak gives you a fashionable way to carry all of your essentials and baby gear and a simple silk Sakura Bloom ring sling pulls out the lighter yellowish green leaves in the dress and provides a simple in-and-out option for your little nursling! I chose a HerRoom Cotton nursing bra (breathable, comfortable with JUST the right amount of support and flexibility!). Finish this look off with a pair of wonderful heeled sandals and you’ve got yourself a look that will keep you cool, comfortable and gorgeously put-together for a day of festivities!

Graduation Set

Graduation SetThis look was my (and Jessica’s!) FAVORITE. I went with a gorgeous tulip dress from Modcloth that provides easy pumping/feeding access with a You!Lingerie bra. The floral heels (yes, they’re hard to find but we just COULDN’T resist putting them in!) pull the mint green and pink coral together. Whether you’re in line to receive your diploma or watching a loved one’s big day to turn the tassle, simplicity is KEY-so instead of putting a diaper bag or pumping bag with this look we opted for a simple clutch to carry only the essentials! A lot of graduations end up being outside (HOT) or in a giant stadium with a LOT of people (again, HOT). Things can get loud and long so we added the wonderful lightweight muslin cover in Isla from Bebe au Lait that can provide some breathable privacy and shade for you and baby! We finished this look with a lovely green glass floral necklace and the Tula Naida (mermaids!) wrap and this look is set to both STUN and FUNCTION for such a big day!

Evening Set

Evening Soirée

We wanted to pull this look together for the Leaky who needs something classy, evening event-appropriate, boob-friendly and absolutely stunning! This look is using a chiffon asymmetrical dress from Torrid with a red lace nursing bra. I added in some Milkies Milk-savers (because sometimes these evening events can go long and Leaky Boobs can happen! #operationSaveLiquidGold can NOW happen! I added in a simple and chic pumping bag from Sarah Wells and some Earth Mama Morning Wellness Spray to keep you feeling fresh, alive and collected throughout the evening (bet you didn’t know it wasn’t JUST for morning sickness! This stuff is amazing). I found this gorgeous “dragonscale” jewelry and just HAD to add it in. Because I am a mama who wants to feel kind of like a badass in social functions…and even a simple statement like jewelry can totally do that for me!

There you have it, Leakies! Some inspiration to keep you functioning through the special events of the season! Now-it’s YOUR turn to show us what you’re rocking!

Tag us and use #LeakyLooks and #BoobOutFashion and you could get picked to be featured on our Instagram feed. And STAY TUNED…we’ve got some super exciting extras coming your way…any guesses?!

Leaky Looks: Call the Midwife Edition

by Kileah McIlvain

So every once in a while, we really love to switch stuff up and have ourselves some fun! Jessica and I were talking the other evening about how much we LOVE the show “Call The Midwife.” Then, that turned into perusing all of the beautiful vintage clothing and judging whether or not we could find some that were breastfeeding-friendly. And guess what? We FOUND some! Hold onto your hats, Leakies! We give you our Leaky Boob Looks: Call The Midwife Edition 🙂
Call The Midwife

 The Sister Bernadette

bernadette style

Sister Bernadette’s look this season is going for a more structured and form-fitting design as the show enters the early 60’s time period in East London. Her character is always promoting new ways of thinking/doing things so she directs a lot of new “systems” in the show. I centered this look around a great boob-access-friendly dress from Modcloth (there’s enough stretch to the fabric to pop a boob out). I used the sleek Allure nursing bra from Bravado as it’s simple and gives structure to the fit of this dress and while it is lower in the neckline we’ve seen her wear, it fits her more understated style while giving a nod to the habit she used to done regularly and of course, our breastfeeding purposes. Finished this look off with some vintage navy pumps (though we doubt Sister Bernadette would wear open toe shoes, we can be a little more daring), a simple beaded necklace, and a POP of red with a Lily Jade designer bag. This look would be stunning for any special event or just because it’s fun to have a sophisticated throw back moment.

Sister Bernadette

Trixie Franklin

IMG_1788

Trixie is such a fun character on the show! She is a chic, progressive, fashion-forward personality that loves being the center of attention! We discover a lot more about her character this season and it’s been exciting to see her grow and mature. Here I went back to the first season or two with the 50’s influence and centered this look around a polkadot wrap-style dress from Lindybop paired with a You!Lingerie bra! Easy for breastfeeding access! Gorgeous sunhat, heels and a bright beaded necklace with a sleek Patent white leather diaper bag, ready for a fun day out in the country away from the hectic pace of Poplar. Isn’t this adorable?

Trixie Franklin

Jenny Lee

Call The Midwife

Jenny Lee was my favourite character of the previous seasons, and I HAD to include her even though she’s moved on! She has this lovely romantic and layered aspect to her character and I love her more traditional post-WWII look. Here I centered this look around this yellow dress from Adored Vintage (unbuttons to access nursing bra easily) and a HerRoom bra (these bras are BOMBSHELL. And they come in a fantastic range of sizes!). I found a lovely vintage floral cardigan and put some practical Brit-style Oxfords from Modcloth. A great oilcloth and leather bag and red sparrow earrings from Etsy complete this great look. All that’s missing is a cruiser bicycle to ride around Poplar checking on all those babies and their mums!

Leaky Boob Looks: Nurturing YOU

by Kileah McIlvain

I know. You know. Mother’s Day is almost here. This particular day can come with a mixed bag of emotions for some of us. Whether it’s loss, joy, infertility, longing, expectation, abundance, joy, anticipation or loneliness. Mothering is hard. Being a human can be hard. BEING requires so much of us…sometimes more than we think we have. Days are sometimes met with an exhausted yawn and aching bones after multiple nights feeding a little one or tending the wake of a tummy bug (that ALWAYS shows up at night, it seems). We end up feeling poured out like a pitcher of water over dry sand. Sometimes, all I can think of is how EMPTY I feel. Sacrificing, pouring out, mending, caring, nurturing. I get lost in the foray. Then? I realize that I need to be nurtured. I need to be cared for. I need to be filled. I MUST be nurtured. I need to be kind to myself. We are, each of us, unique. There are things whether they are small or big, that nurture us. Whether it’s a person, a moment, a ritual, a prayer, an object. This week, I want to focus on looks for you that are rooted in simple comfort. In loveliness. In empowerment and loving ourselves and these mama bodies that we are constantly using to nurture those around us. We love you, Leaky! Let us be empowered and nurtured so that we can empower and nurture those around us. <3

Leaky Look #1: Lovely Mama

I wanted this look to center around feeling lovely and strong from within while being texturally soft and versatile. This is the Ready, Set, Vacay Dress from Modcloth. Easy feeding access, comes in a great range of sizes, flattering lines and great bodice detailing. I added the uber-soft Seashell Pink nursing bra from Nursing Bra Express, a structured chambray blazer, and some great leather gladiator sandals. The leather handbag IS actually a diaper bag crafted by Oemibaby-a great wardrobe piece you can transition with from moming to self-caring seamlessly! The accessories are handmade from Etsy. What better than to finish off this look with the gorgeously-soft Ergo Organic baby carrier in “Dandelion.” (Yes. there are sweet dandelions printed all over it!)

Lovely

Leaky Look #2: Comfy Glam

This look reminded me of one of my favorite magazines (Dwell). This top is the Black Tilla top from Purple Impression (my newest obsession! Seriously. Their mission, brand, ethically-stitched clothing, breastfeeding friendly…and the causes they are involved with in supporting women. Read more HERE.). I paired the top with some simple nursing tanks from Target, comfy harem pants from Gap, Arizona Birkenstocks, and a Storksak bag in “Noa” from Nordstrom.com. A Beautiful brass medallion necklace from Modcloth compliments the hand embroidered sleeves on the top and my FAVORITE Tekhni woven wrap in Delta Gothic makes this gorgeous look chic, functional, extremely comfortable, and versatile for various activities/lifestyles.

Gothic glam

Leaky Look #3: Zen Mama

One of the best ways we can nurture ourselves is by challenging/caring for our body! This look is centered around a pink workout top from Belabumbum, a blue bamboo cardigan, and the adjustable “3 reasons support bra” from Title Nine. Yoga is a wonderful way to center yourself and strengthen your body and mind, so I added in this lovely Yoga bag from REI and a colorful Girasol woven wrap from Paxbaby for a local baby and me yoga sesh! Simple things like Earth Mama Angel Baby lip balm and water in a double-insulated ThinkSport water bottle are perfect ways to invest in taking care of yourself and helping you to thrive in a healthy state of being.

I sure hope you like this week’s feature! Let us know what special things help you recharge and inspire you to nurture yourself!

Leaky Looks: Working, Pumping, Outing Edition

So this week, I got sucked into “Omg…can I BUY all of these? PLEASE?!” land.

Because seriously…did you KNOW of the infinite wardrobe possibilities that are out there for the working mom? Or for the pumping mom? Mom who wants to go on a date or needs to go to a work meeting? It was HARD to narrow these down to only 3 looks. (seriously. it’s like putting together collages of  “want all of the breast things.” yes. pun intended :D)  Here you go, Leakies. My favorites!

Neutrals Work/Pumping Look

I built this look around a great lightweight tunic shirtdress and jewelry from Modcloth! The dress has buttons, a great line that flatters your midsection and a GREAT sleeve cut! And the buttons make it easy to access this comfortable Rose Pumping Bra by Dairy Fairy. The bracelet and necklace glam it up without being too “fussy.” Jean jackets (yup! Modcloth, again!) are the PERFECT accessory piece because you can class them up or dress them down! These black demi panel slim cropped pants from Gap are the perfect length (and they’re maternity!! bet you didn’t even know!) for elongating your legs while showing off the shoes you’re wearing (I did add neutral pumps here but adding a pop of RED or GREEN would be sooo cute!) Finished this off with the roomy and slightly utilitarian OiOi Jungle Leather Satchel diaper bag (which of course….now I want it, too!). Easy, classy, neutral, workable. YOU.

Work Meeting Look

This look I pulled together to compliment this gorgeous dress from Nursing Novi. This is an up and coming designer who has made some fantastic pieces that are completely breastfeeding/pumping friendly! How does it work? This dress unbuttons down the collar on either side so that you can easily access your bra! I added in a chic leather pumping bag by Luv My Bag and some comfortable wedge sandals from Born. Finishing this look is a simple but chic tri-necklace from Modcloth.

Breezy Beach Pumping Look

I LOVED this breezy breastfeeding-friendly maxi dress and bead necklace from Nursing Novi. The dress is a great length (which doesn’t turn you into a living floor mop. For me at least! I’m a grand total height of 5’3″!).  I added in the PumpEase hands-free nursing bra from Snugabell (it comes in several great colours/prints!), a great set of coral sandals from Born and a beautiful Sakura Bloom linen sling!Beach pump look
